There are 2 mantras in life: yuck and yum. Mine is yum. -- T.R.

…if you always put limits on what you can do, physical or anything else, it’ll spread over into the rest of your life. It’ll spread into your work, into your morality, into your entire being. There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you. A man must constantly exceed his level.

Bruce Lee; from The Art of Expressing The Human Body

**Truly an inspiring quote and something that we all need to remember in every aspect of our lives.

Paleo Challenge Finale

I’ll keep this one short and sweet - had the final weigh in / measurements / dunk on April 28th… this past Saturday (May 4th) the box held a Paleo Challenge Party to announce the winners… top 3 women and top 3 men.  I, completely unexpectedly, won 1st place for the women :-) It was exciting and very inspiring to keep pushing forward with the paleo diet.  I’m looking forward to seeing what more I can do!

Paleo Challenge Finale

Sunday marked the final day of the Paleo Challenge 2013 at the CFHW Box.  I had been eating a strict paleo diet (save my one weekend cheat which I already talked about) for 37 days and went in to get my measurements, hydrostatic dunk tank percents, and then complete the final ‘Filthy Fifty’ WOD.

I was super nervous, even though I knew changes had occurred throughout the challenge. Clothes were fitting better, my skin was clearer, energy was up, and I just felt healthier overall.

So ultimately, I get to the gym and here are the results:

Down 5 lbs

Down 2 inches around hips

Down 1.75 inches around my waist

Down 2.25 inches around my chest

I lost 4% body fat, gained 3 lbs of lean muscle

Improved my Filthy Fifty time by 9 minutes

Woohoo!! I’m very proud of myself and am looking forward to continuing on with the paleo lifestyle.  My main focus is to get to 11-16% body fat, which I know will take some time, but is definitely possible.  I’m excited about keeping up with CrossFit and just continually surprising myself with what I can do with dedication and perseverance… and I’m really looking forward to growing not only as an individual, but as part of such a supportive and strong community.

With the total knowledge of this sounding super cheesy: This challenge allowed me the opportunity to revisit and revise my personal health and life goals.  It gave me the chance to focus and create a plan that will push me to my success… and it’s going to be great :-)

and yes… I’m becoming one of those people…

Love this tattoo… thinking of integrating the water color look into the next tattoo I get.  Or possibly just creating a whole separate piece.

Paleo Challenge - Week 4

So this was a tough week for me… it was also the first time I went out of town since the start of the challenge and had to try and keep to my food while surrounding by a bunch of very non-paleo snacks.  To be honest, I did cheat a little bit - which I feel terrible about, but overall I kept it together and pushed through.

Today is the first day of the final week, with our final weigh-ins  on Sunday.  I’m planning my week of meals ahead of time so there is no room for cheating.  I’m almost there!!
